September 30th - Mums

I'm embarrassed to admit that I once wore a mum very proudly. Could there be anything uglier?

September 29th - Nook

I love having built-in bookshelves in my new apartment. I can arrange so many things and make things pretty!

September 28th - New Place, Same Story

In Paul's words, Sammy's a "slow learner." I just think Sammy knows that if he keeps on doing something, I'll finally give up and let him do it.

September 27th - Flowered Tray

My new tray looks nice in its new place above the fridge.

September 26th - Chicken on a Stick

Mom introduced the rest of us to "chicken on a stick" at Warrenton today. It was wonderful! (The owners should have been paying us for all the free advertising we were doing for them - everyone kept asking us where they could get "chicken on a stick.")

September 25th - Sorry, Bevo

Oh, Bevo. It must have been difficult to watch the game today. I'm sure you could have run the ball and played defense if your handlers had let you loose.

September 23rd - Laundry!

It's finally happened - I'm featuring my favorite part of the new apartment on Project 365.

The laundry room.

Except for the two years I lived with Paul in Austin, I've never had my own washer and dryer since I moved away from home. I've saved quarters. I've loaded my laundry card with cash. I've driven my two overflowing baskets of laundry to the laundry room because it was too cold outside to walk. I've avoided doing laundry because it's too late. Too cold. Too hot. Too heavy. Too difficult to carry up the stairs.

No longer.

Now I can do a load of laundry and forget about it for days. I can do laundry on two consecutive days and not waste two evenings out of my week. I can do tiny loads and not feel like I'm wasting money. I can do laundry in any type of weather.

I think I could get used to this.

At the end of the day, Sammy is the one in charge.

It's back!

September 19th - Sonic Dr. Pepper

Reason #562 that I'm happy to be back in Texas: I don't have to wait over an hour for a Sonic Dr. Pepper.

September 18th - Polka Dots

What does one wear to one's ten-year reunion?

A polka dot sundress, of course.

September 17th - Ten-Year (gulp!) Reunion

Has it really been 10 years? Yes, I do believe it has. I studied my senior yearbook tonight to refresh my memory about my classmates. Hopefully I can remember at least half of their names for tomorrow's festivities!

September 14th - Sunflowers, Part 2

As you may remember, my photo of the day for last Friday featured some beautiful sunflowers I had bought at Wal-Mart.

Today I was greeted with the scene pictured above when I came home from work. Based on the picture from September 6th, I'm sure my loyal blog readers can conclude what happened.

September 13th - No Place Like Home

It's beginning to feel more and more like home . . .

September 12th - Swan's Way

We ate lunch at County Line before the others had to head back home. The food was wonderful as always, and we were lucky enough to see the turtles behind the restaurant today. We also were greeted by three swans who really enjoyed the bread the kids were feeding them.

September 11th - Texas vs. Wyoming

Texas's first home game of the season - the Horns won, 34-7.

September 10th - Longhorns and Sunflowers

Paul and Esther were the first two dinner guests at my new apartment. I made stir fry, and with a little help from Esther, it turned out well. Esther also brought some Longhorn cookies she had made to celebrate the first home game of the season. They were wonderful and looked so happy next to the sunflowers I bought at Wal-Mart yesterday.

September 9th - Working Girl

The building where my new job is located . . . from the parking lot (I put my camera on the ground and angled it up).

September 8th - Evening Commute

I'm learning the drive between my new home and work fairly well. I was very thankful that it wasn't raining today, so I could see things much better.

September 7th - Tropical Storm Hermine

It felt like Austin was underwater today with all the rain from Hurricane Hermine. The grounds on my apartment complex were completely soaked by this evening.

September 6th - Sammy the Explorer

I'm not the only one who is getting used to a new place. Sammy has had fun exploring the new apartment - both the high places and the low.

September 5th - Books & More Books

After two full days of unpacking, the books - all seven boxes of them - are on the shelves. My apartment is slowly beginning to feel more like home.

September 4th - Austin

Hello, Austin. I hope we can be good friends again.

P.S. I apologize to all my loyal blog readers for not posting earlier - I just had my cable/internet installed a few minutes.

September 3rd - Gas Prices

I left Cedar Rapids yesterday afternoon and landed in DFW a couple hours later. After Mom picked me up, we drove all the way to Austin last night. Of course, we had to stop for gas along the way. Another day, another day on the road . . .

September 2nd - Iowa Sunset

Tonight is my last night in Cedar Rapids. It's been a nice two weeks. :)

September 1st - I read the news today, oh boy . . .

One of the things I love most about staying in hotels is reading USA Today. I also thought it would be interesting to have a picture of the daily news to look back on in the future.
